Wokha, May 28 (MExN): Architecture Assistantship Government Polytechnic, Doyang, Wokha was jointly inaugurated by Minister for Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along, and Advisor Technical Education & Election, Medo Yhokha on at Doyang, Wokha on May 27.

According to a DIPR report, Minister Along, while inaugurating the Polytechnic Institution, lauded the initiative of the Chief Minister of Nagaland for creating posts for the three polytechnic institutions and making them functional.

He emphasized the need to construct a girls' hostel at the same time he cautioned that any land ownership issue would create a huge hindrance for the Government to bring about any kind of development. He urged the youths to pursue courses in the field of Architecture as there are so many scopes besides government jobs.

Advisor Medo Yhokha said it was a great day for the people of Wokha and the Nagas for having such an institution at their doorstep and added that “any initial lapse would be put in place.”

He appealed to the people to take the responsibility of the custodian of the institution so that it can provide quality and standard education. Further, he sought the cooperation of the people with the Department and the staff of the institute to make the institution vibrant and prosperous.

Advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan, on behalf of the area people and Wokha district, expressed gratitude to the Government of Nagaland under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio for establishing the Architecture Assistantship, Government Polytechnic at Wokha. He expressed hope that the lone technical institute in the district would soon become a versatile and vibrant institution in the state.

Stating a lot of challenges lies ahead being a newly established institution and the lone professional technical institution, Yanthan urged the people to think in terms of contributing to the institution. He appealed to the Department to incorporate new and viable courses in the coming years to create more avenues for the younger generation.

Principal GPD Wokha, Er. Julia Achumi, while delivering the welcome address, said the diploma course will start functioning from this academic session in July 2022 where candidates who have appeared HSLC/HSSLC final examination of 2022 are eligible to apply for the Diploma Entrance examination she further informed that intake seat for Architecture Assistantship will be only 15 for the current academic year 2022.

The inaugural function was chaired by Secretary, Department of Higher & Technical Education, Hokhuli K. Chishi, IAS.
