DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): Dimapur Police along with IRB personnel while conducting M.V.C.P at Khermahal Junction, Dimapur on September 19, intercepted one Maruti Alto B/R No. NL-03/1604 and seized 1(one) AK-47 Assault Rifle with 2 (two) Magazines, 45 (forty five) live rounds, 1 (one country made .32 Pistol with 4 (four) live rounds and 1 (one) live hand Grenade from the possession of the occupants.
They have been identified as Mughato Awomi of Khuboto village, Lovito Tuccu of Khuboto village, Kakiye Yepto of Viyixe village, Zunheboto, who is also a teacher by profession, Tomba Singh, driver and Toiho Sumi of Nihokhu village who belongs to one U.G. faction. All the occupants along with the said were seized and arrested and booked under relevant sections of law, informed a press note issued by the Additional Superintendent of Police Dimapur.
In another breakthrough, on 25/09/2012 the joint Special Operation Teams of Dimapur Police and the 29th Assam Rifles apprehended 3 (three) arms smugglers namely (1) Wonchepin Tangkhul of Somtal village, Ukhrul , Shangreikhai Tangkhul of Huichu village, Ukhrul and S. Haorei Tangkhul of Huichu village, Ukhrul from Manipur at Purana Bazar Junction who had reportedly struck a deal with other criminals to exchange their arms and an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh with one stolen Bolero in Dimapur. 1 (one) .22 Pistol, 5(five) mobile handsets and Rs. 1,46,805/- (One Lakh Forty Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Five, only) were seized from their possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered and the arrested persons were booked under relevant sections of law.
