The drums containing ganja which were found concealed under the soil in Tripura.
Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): Around 4000 kg of ganja in total have been seized by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in two separate incidents in Tripura and Assam.
DRI Agartala with the assistance of Tripura Police (Sepahijala District) and BSF personnel of Gokulnagar and 74 BN BSF conducted a search operation from August 1 to 2 in the premises of two persons and recovered 3390.690 kg of ganja. The two have been identified as Delowair Hossain and Hussain Ali, both residents of Sepahijala district.
The ganja was found packed in 85 plastic drums of different sizes and concealed under the soil of land owned by the two persons, according to a press release from DRI.
The entire consignment has been seized and both the persons have been arrested under the provisions of NDPS Act 1985, it was informed.
In another operation, DRI seized 488 kg of ganja at Angla Bazar, Badarpur in Karimganj district of Assam from an abandoned house on August 2. The operation was carried out by the DRI with the Assam Police, BSF and CRPF.
DRI informed that a total of 8900 kg of ganja originating from Tripura has been seized in the past few months.
