The ARTC&S observed International Day by facilitating the workers of Shokhuvi and Dimapur stations on May 1.
DIMAPUR, MAY 1 (MExN): The Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) conducted a special event to facilitate the workers of Shokhuvi and Dimapur stations on the occasion of the 97th International Labour Day.
To express solidarity with workers during this difficult time of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ARTC&S reached out to all workers, labourers and porters of Dimapur and Shokhuvi garrisons.
A press release from the ARTC&S informed that due to the ongoing lockdown, workers/labourers residing in nearby villages were facing acute shortage of daily supplies. Besides providing accommodation, ARTC&S and School pooled in resources and has been providing supplies and essential rations to 218 workers since the beginning of the lockdown on March 24.
The event was organised to create awareness on issues like forced labour, minimum wage law and rights of the workers. Free meals were also arranged for the labourers.
