Article on HIV and AIDS hurts NNP+

Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): The Network of Naga People Living with HIV and AIDS (NNP+) community has reacted on the article ‘Politics according to the Bible’ by one Mazie Nakhro published on April 5 in a local daily.
The community stated in a press note received here today that it was shocked to see the article and at the same time condemns it.
Quoting the statement from the article: “HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, homosexuality, and abortion are spiritual issues. They violate the sanctity of life and distort the natural order”, the community said that he had clearly mentioned, “HIV and AIDS is violating the sanctity of life and distorting the natural order”.
It also stated: “We therefore would like to state that while much attention have been given towards HIV and AIDS response globally, an intellectual person should not disseminate message that creates misconception such as judgemental, condemnation, discrimination especially when comes to HIV and AIDS context. The NNP+ would be highly obliged if the teachings of the “Bible is delivered in a proper way, so that it will promote responsible behaviour that respects the dignity of all persons and defends the sanctity of life, offer unconditional and compassionate love and care to all, giving hope and to live a life-sustaining relationship with God and with humanity through respecting and upholding the teaching of God.”
