More demand justice for Tsiesema village alleged child rape victim
Kohima, July 26 (MExN): The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) has stated that it is distraught about the alleged rape case of 5-year minor girl at Tsiesema village in Kohima.
While condemning the act that occurred on July 9, NLSF has demanded that the accused be booked under POCSO Act 2012 for Child Abuse and Crime against Children and befitting punishment be rewarded. “The accused should not be released under any circumstances. The law should take its own course of action and justice should be delivered without interference from any angle,” Press & Media Cell NLSF stated.
The Federation expressed regret that the minor girl had to undergo such treatment under its jurisdiction and reiterated for “immediate implementation of the punishment.”
Further, it urged the Government to ensure the best possible medical treatment is provided to the victim girl. “Apart from bringing the perpetrator of this heinous crime to justice expeditiously, it is critical for all of us to reflect on why these, barbaric acts keep recurring in our midst. As a society, we must introspect at the erosion of values and the repeated failure to ensure the security of our women and children,” it stated.
The Tsiesemiapfü Mechü Krotho (TMK) in its condemnation note said, “Such heinous crimes not only wound the minor physically but also cause immeasurable psychological scars upon the child survivor’s impressionable mind. Such crimes perpetuate a culture of fear and insecurity among women in general.”
Therefore, in continuation to the press release issued by Tsiesema Village Council, the TMK also urged the law and enforcement authority to take expeditiously punishment upon the perpetrators in accordance with law, without any extraneous influence.
“No such case has taken place before in our jurisdiction and this horrifying incident has left its entire inhabitant shocked and shaken. We stand as one with the victim and empathize with the anguish felt by the family,” it said.
TMK also further called upon all to commit to the cause of ensuring a society where every child and women feels safe, secured and free to flourish.
