Assam Killings: NEDF demands int'l investigation, more condemns

Guwahati, November 3 (MExN): Days after the alleged killing of five persons, several organizations have demanded probe into the mass killing.   NEDF: North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) while condemning the alleged killing demanded for “independent, impartial investigation by international fact finding team.”   In a press release its Senior Project Manager Kh Rebati Raman, it observed that “the killing was well planned, strategically coordinated action to create tension between communities in the area.” “Such act is also considered to be Extrajudicial Execution by the highest court in India,” the release said.   “On the real count, all the five persons belong to poor families who do not have any influence at the higher level. Therefore, they were targeted with the reason that they cannot make complaint against the perpetrators,” it further stated.   The NEDF has, therefore urged the Government of Assam and India to provide immediate support for rehabilitation to the family members of the victims.   NPF (Minority wing): Naga Peoples Front (Central) Minority Wing also condemned the killing at Kherbari, Tinsukia district. “This kind of killing and barbaric acts is highly condemnable by one and all and it has no place in civilized society,” a condemnation note from its President Bishnu Bhattacharjee stated. It extended deepest condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.   DBS: “The alleged killing of five innocent citizens in Tinsukia, Assam deserves to be condemned in the strongest terms, Dimapur Bangali Samaj stated in a press note. The DBS, in its release from the President KK Paul conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.
