Kohima, May 20 (MExN): Assam Rifles troops apprehended NSCN (K) cadres in two different incidents recently. Medziphema battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre from a check post in Jharnapani on May 19. The cadre identified as Hapang Konyak (28) was travelling from Kohima to Dimapur, stated a press release from HQ IGAR (N). The recoveries from the individual included one .22 pistol, two live rounds and a motorcycle, it added. The release further alleged that the cadre revealed he had been undertaking extortion activities in Dimapur and Kohima. He along with the recovered items was handed over to Medziphema Police Station for further investigation.
Kohima battalion of AR apprehended another NSCN (K) cadre in Tinpatti, Kohima on May 18. He has been identified as Tsünuo Pienyü alias Khrielelie Pienyü (41). A separate press release from Assam Rifles stated one cash receipt and four extortion slips amounting to Rs 1,00,000/- were recovered from him. The cadre along with the recovered items was handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation, it added.
In a separate incident, Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles recovered one .22 auto pistol along with one magazine from the residence of one Kezhalezo Ciesotsu in Merima, Kohima on May 18, AR claimed in a press release. The recovered items were deposited to North Police Station and FIR was lodged, it added.
