Dimapur, March 21 (MExN): Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) carried out various activities in different districts of Nagaland recently.
35 Assam Rifles inaugurated the RCC water storage tank (5000 liters), which it constructed for the residents of Wakching village, on March 14.
A lecture was conducted by 9 Assam Rifles on lifestyle diseases, health and hygiene at Chizami village on March 15. The lecture, organized with the help of Village Council Members at village community hall, saw medical representative discuss about various lifestyle diseases and preventive measures, informed a press release from Assam Rifles. He also threw light on basic health and hygiene practices which need to be implemented for healthy living. A total of 50 villagers attended the lecture.
In Jalukie, 36 Assam Rifles conducted an interaction session with ex-servicemen (ESM) of Army and Assam Rifles on March 14 with an aim to resolve problems faced by the ex-servicemen. The event was attended by eight ESM from Assam Rifles and Army. The participants, an AR press note said, expressed desire for regular updates on new schemes for ex-servicemen and their children.
Meanwhile, 15 Assam Rifles presented two computer sets along with printers to Government High School, Shamator on March 15. Colonel Vineet Jaiswal, Commandant, 15 Assam Rifles presented the computers to the principal and staff of the school in the presence of around 215 students.
44 Assam Rifles also organised a medical camp at Longmisa village in Mokokchung district on March 15. Assistant Commandant Jubin Henry, Medical Officer, 44 Assam Rifles and paramedical staff of 44 Assam Rifles treated 148 patients - 44 males, 74 females and 30 children - and distributed free medicines to them. Locals from far flung area who are deprived of medical treatment also turned up for treatment, Assam Rifles informed. People were also educated on common prevalent diseases, preventive measures and importance of health, hygiene and sanitation, it added.
On March 16 in Pfutsero, 9 Assam Rifles conducted an interaction with 18 Village GBs and Council Chairmen of villages under Pfütsero sub-division. The interaction focused on local issues of health, education, employment and skill development towards furtherance of peace and harmony in Pfutsero region, stated a press note from AR. The village leaders shared their views and urged the AR to continue its efforts for development of the region, it added. As part of Civic Action Project, the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S) has provisioned a computer lab at Shokhuvi village in Dimapur. The computer ancillaries and furniture was handed over to the people of Shokhuvi village by Brig Gurjap Singh, Commandant, ARTC&S on March 17. The problem of non availability of a computer lab at the village was highlighted by the Chairman of Shokhuvi Village Council through an application to the ARTC&S, according to a press release.
Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (N) continues to carry out civic action programmes in Nagaland. On March 18, 32 Assam Rifles handed over the toilet block it had constructed for the people of Lengrijan in Dimapur. The toilet block will be beneficial to the community and will contribute towards improving hygiene and sanitation in the village, AR expressed in a press note.
32 Assam Rifles also installed solar street light at S Hetoye village, Niuland and handed over the same on March 17. The project, AR said, was undertaken on behest of the local populace to brighten the pitch dark area of the village and alleviate the problem of regular power supply. Meanwhile, 36 Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Heunambe village of Peren district on March 16 with an aim to provide basic medical amenities to remote area of Heunambe and neighbouring villages. Medical staff of 36 Assam Rifles provided medicines and free treatment to 148 people - 53 males, 37 females and 58 children, Assam Rifles informed.
