Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): The Mokokchung and Mon Battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) extended immediate and critical help to Totok Chaiching villagers of Mon district on April 4. 

According to a press release received on Monday, a massive fire broke out due to a short circuit during the night hours on April 3, during which a total of 19 houses were completely burnt and 7 houses were partially burnt. “The Assam Rifles extended timely assistance in dousing the fire, evacuation of casualties, distribution of rations, essential items and providing medical relief to the injured people,” the release stated. Swift and timely action by troops in safeguarding the men and materials brought big relief to the victims of fire incident and was highly appreciated by the locals, it added.

On April 3, the Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organized a free medical camp at Kudeh village, Tuensang district and provided medical support and assistance to the villagers especially the old, handicapped, orphaned people and the women who are unable to go to the hospitals at far distances. The release stated that free medicines and medical care was provided to the affected people and the villagers were educated on the importance of timely vaccination, personal hygiene and sanitation. The medical camp was carried out following all COVID-19 instruction/guidelines issued by the Higher HQs, it added.

The villagers requested for more such medical camps at Kudeh village in the future as well so that maximum persons can avail the facilities. A total of 70 Males, 25 Females and 12 Children were benefitted from the camp, the release stated.

Meanwhile, the Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) celebrated Easter Sunday with the children of orphanage homes of Peren d on April 4. 

Children from Lydia Centre and Children’s Home and Christian Servanthood Ministry (CSM) orphan home celebrated the Easter with cake cutting and luncheon thereafter. A total of 32 children along with their superintendents attended the celebration and thanked Assam Rifles for this generous gesture of celebrating Easter with them, the release stated.
