Kohima, August 16 (MExN): The Assam Rifles organised a cycle rally at Chieswema Garrison in Nagaland as part of the nationwide Fit India Movement’s ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative, in continuation of Independence Day celebrations.
The rally was flagged off from the garrison helipad and covered approximately 5 km within the garrison premises.
Assam Rifles personnel, families and children participated in the event, informed a press release from the PRO HQ IGAR (North)
The initiative aimed to promote physical fitness, healthy living and cycling as a regular fitness activity, while also providing an opportunity for personnel and their families to participate in a common activity, it said.

The event also emphasised camaraderie among service personnel and their families, with children joining their parents in the ride.
The Assam Rifles said such initiatives are intended to promote health and wellness, encourage regular physical activity and strengthen community engagement in line with the national Fit India campaign.
The ‘Sundays on Cycle’ initiative is part of the Fit India Movement and seeks to encourage people to incorporate cycling into their routine as a means of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle, the update added.
