
Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): Different battalions of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) carried out various activities in their respective areas recently. Chieswema: Chieswema battalion organized a free medical camp at Chizami village in Phek district on March 8. A specially constituted medical team under 2IC (CMO) C Satyaranjan examined, treated and provided free medicines to the villagers, informed a press release from HQ IGAR. The medical team also conducted screening of diabetes. In addition, 2IC C Satyaranjan imparted a lecture on ‘Healthy Life’ encompassing basic health education, precautions from viral disease, importance of hygiene and sanitation and HIV/ AIDS, it added. Dimapur: Dimapur battalion conducted a lecture on drug abuse at Hollohon colony in Dimapur on March 9. “The aim of the lecture was to create awareness about the drug abuse and guide the youth on measures to give up the vice and bring them to the mainstream of social life without shame or sorrow,” another press release stated. A total of 15 youth, GB and Chairman of Hollohon colony attended the lecture. Tuensang: A medical camp was organized by Tuensang battalion at Shaksi village on March 9. 280 patients were treated and free medical checkup and medicines were distributed during the camp, according to a press release from Assam Rifles. Meanwhile, health counseling was given in small groups regarding adoption of healthy lifestyle, HIV/AIDS free Nagaland, and early detection of diseases, the release added. Wokha: Wokha battalion inaugurated a borewell it constructed in Chukitong on March 9. “The villagers of Chukitong village have been facing acute scarcity of potable drinking water due to non availability of water resources. The borewell will help in reducing the water scarcity in the area and bring relief to the villagers,” Assam Rifles stated in a separate press release. The project was handed over to Nkhanemo Ezung, Head GB, Chukitong village, it added. The Wokha battalion of Assam Rifles also organized a medical camp at Bhandari village on March 9. A total of 48 males, 53 females and 20 children were examined and given necessary treatment during the camp and free medicine were given to the ailing patients, it was informed. In addition, the people were educated on the importance of timely vaccination, personal hygiene and sanitation.
