DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 1 (MExN): Satoi Range Public Union in a press statement strongly reacted against the assassination attempt on Vizheto Tuccu, Kilonser, NSCN (IM). The incident is reported to have occurred on January 31 at his residence in Hetoyi village, Niuland subdivision. In reaction to this, SRPUD convened an emergency general public meeting on February 1. President of SRPUD Phukato Sumi stated that it is “very fortunate and unbecoming” for such incidents to occur at a time when Naga society is yearning for peace and tranquility to prevail in the land.
He stated that this “dastardly act on the life on a prominent Naga leader deserves to be strongly condemned.”
In the meeting SRUPD president Phukato Sumi along with SRPUD general secretary Khevishe Zhimomi expressed their condemnation of the incident and demanded the Superintendent of Police, Dimapur to investigate into the matter and book the culprits within seven days from the day of the meeting.
The union also appealed to all organizations to initiate inquiries from their respective ends. The press statement also stated that the union will be forced to adopt their own course of action, should the concerned authorities fail to take appropriate action. It was also stated all resolutions of the union in reaction to the incident were taken “without fear or favor” and that the actions of the union “are guided with the objective of determining such events in the future.”
