Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): The excise personnel under the command of DSE Phyobemo kikon along with the police and the administration carried out a combined raid of illegal liquor shops in Peren and Jalukie on February 26 and 26. Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur Lanuwati Jamir stated in a press release that during the raid, 298 bottles of assorted liquor and 400 litres of country liquor were seized. Altogether 16 accused persons were arrested and booked under relevant section of the NLTP Act 1989. The excise office of Peren being recently established, the department sincerely seek the cooperation of village councils, ward members, student bodies etc and the general public in successfully implementation of ‘total prohibition’ in the district.
