Kohima, February 16 (MExN): The Angami Students' Union has once again appealed to the general public, individuals, and other entities to abstain from causing public nuisance and allow a conducive environment for students to prepare and appear for their ongoing Class 10-12 examinations (HSLC, HSSLC & CBSE).
The reiteration came after the union informed that several complaints had been received about non-compliance despite its earlier appeal for a noise-free environment during the exams. According to the union, complaints were received against the Assam Rifles IGAR North D Block Kohima, cafes/restaurants, and certain pockets around Kohima town, including playing of loud music during unusual hours.
Accordingly, the ASU stated that it is resolute in initiating measures to address any such cases affecting the careers of the students' community.
However, acknowledging the competency of the district administration, the union has submitted a formal complaint to the Deputy Commissioner Kohima on the issue on February 16.
In its complaint, the ASU alleged that despite the February 8 appeal, the AR IGAR North D Block had been indulging in ‘playing loud music’ during unusual hours since then, particularly on February 12 and the intervening night of February 15-16.
This unwanted conduct has severely disturbed the conducive environment for students preparing and appearing for their exams, the ASU asserted while urging the district administration to take immediate “necessary measures and actions to curtail such unwanted activities.”
The ASU also requested the respective colony panchayats or councils and youth organisations to ensure that such unwelcoming activities are not tolerated.
