Kohima, May 26 (MExN): ATMA Chunlikha Block Kohima District conducted a one-day demonstration programme on May 19 under various villages of Chunlikha Block.
BTT Convenor Michael, ACTO, KVK Tesophenyu shared about the concept and importance of food security and alternate ways of preserving agricultural produce where there are no facilities of proper cooling storage. He advised the farmers to emphasize more on kitchen garden and its basic necessities.
He also demonstrated on packaging and practices in scientific cultivation on Kharif crops at Kandinyu village and pest management on paddy by introducing Ticho-cards in to the field. Food Security Group ‘Kechye Logwa’ comprising of eight women at Ziphenyu was also formed.
Block Technology Manager, Kekhriesielie conducted a demonstration programme on organic seed treatment using pseudomona strain on paddy seeds at Tesophenyu new village. Assistant Technology Manager, Sinlo Khing demonstrated on preparation of nursery bed for paddy seeds at Tesophenyu new village. ATM Kebegi Kent demonstrated on management of post- harvest diseases of potato at Tesophenyu new village.
A total of 37 farmers benefited from the demonstration programme.
