Mokokchung, July 16 (MExN): ATMA Longchem, Mangkolemba and Tsurangkong blocks merged together and organised a field day on fish pond management on July 12 at Longjemdang Village under Mangkolemba block which was chaired by Limawapangla, BTM Mangkolemba block.
Resource person Nungtisang Aier, BTM Longchem block explained the farmers on the concept of fish pond construction and the type of fishes reared in the pond. The farmers were taught on how to measure the productivity of a fish pond using Secchi disc. He also encouraged the farmers on commercial rearing of fish to increase their income.
The programme was followed by interaction cum-feedback session after which a field visit was made and the resource person conducted a practical to enlighten the farmers on how to use the Secchi disc.
Altogether 50 farmers along with seven support staffs from the three blocks attended the field day.
