DIMAPUR, JANUARY 29 (MExN): The ATMA Mon, Chen block on January 25 conducted a demonstration programme at Chen village in Mon.
The resource persons were BTM Nusakho Nyekha and ATM Taiching Yana, where they demonstrated the farmers on the various methods of plant propagation, pest management in vegetable crops using bio control agents and rodent management in field and storages.
During the program, the resource persons also interacted with the farmers and instructed the importance of various activities including sanitation and irrigation in the field.
Meanwhile, in another press release, the ATMA Longleng informed that it also conducted demonstrations on application of Phophotika and Azotobacter Biofetilizers and intercropping of sweet corn and beans at Yachem village, Longleng block on January 27.
Resource person Bendangkumzuk Walling sensitized the participants on the importance and cost effectiveness of biofetilizers and encouraged its regular use for better growth and development of plants while limiting the use of chemicals as a last resort.
Phosphotika and Azotobacter helps the plants to better uptake phosphorus and fix atmospheric nitrogen respectively, he informed. Biofetilizers are available at State Bio-Control Lab Medziphema. Intercropping of legumes such as beans will not only fix nitrogen and improve soil health but also provide support for the growth of beans, he added. Biofetilizers and seeds were distributed to the farmers.
