Sixteen Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) representing four blocks under Kohima district today joined the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) exhibition cum sales day here today at the Kohima Local Ground. The programme was formally inaugurated by Khriehu Liezietsu, advisor new & renewable energy, music task force and chairman Kohima District Planning & Development Board.
ATMA is a society of key stakeholders involved in agricultural activities for sustainable agricultural development in the district. It is a focal point for integrating Research and Extension activities and de-centralising day-to-day management of the public Agricultural Technology System (ATS).
The objective of ATMA is to bring together framers, researchers, extensionists, private sectors, NGO’s and other stake holders to develop District Action Plan on the basis of joint diagnostic studies and strategic plans in a demand driven, situation specific, multi action oriented Strategic Research and Extension Plan (SREP) to accelerate the overall agricultural development in the district. Among the many items figured at the sales day included potato, tomato, wild vegetables, flowers, ginger, beans, chilly, banana, temperate fruits, papaya, poultry items, etc. etc.
There are four blocks under ATMA Kohima district. It included; Kohima, Jakhama, Chiephobozou and Tseminyu. ATMA exhibition cum sales day take place twice in a year.
