Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur, Kuhuboto block inaugurated sericulture farm school on May 25 at Khehokhu village. Hukheli Shohe was appointed the farm teacher.
Akavi Holo, BTM, ATMA Kuhuboto block elaborated on the functioning and role of ATMA under Dimapur district. ATMA, he said, plays an important role in disseminating technical extension knowledge to the farmers through trainings and demonstration conducted with the help of BTT and AES members of various agri and allied departments.
Vilhousienuo, ASO & BTT Convenor also spoke on the role of farm teacher. She also highlighted the objectives and functions of a farm school. She also shared on rearing of eri silkworm. Spinning as well as weaving eri clothes has been an integral part of rural women in Nagaland, it was pointed out. The activities not only help to increase their household income but also help many of them to come out of the acute poverty, she stated, adding an attempt is being made to throw some light on the role of ericulture and entrepreneurship for income and employment generation.
