Conduct demonstration on broadcast method of dhaincha seed and package of practices of HQPM-1 Hybrid maize
Medziphema, May 12 (MExN): Agricultural technology management agency (ATMA) Medziphema block conducted joint field visit and demonstration along with KVK officials for farmers on May 9 at Zhuikhu village.
A press release from ATMA Medziphema block stated that the joint visit to ginger farm was carried out with the objective to adopt scientific methods of cultivation of ginger and proper farm management practices.
Resource person, Lireni Kikon, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK (ICAR) highlighted the various aspects of scientific cultivation practices of ginger and emphasized mainly on proper selection of seed (rhizome), seed treatment, field preparation, planting technique and disease control methods. She also delivered hands on demonstration on organic cultivation of ginger using bio-time a talc based biopesticide.
Meanwhile, demonstration on the topics- broadcast method of dhaincha seed and package of practices of HQPM-1 Hybrid maize was carried out for the farmers with resource person Z. James Kikon, ACTO, KVK (ICAR) and BTT Convener (ATMA).
There was farmer scientist interaction where the farmers actively participated. The programme was chaired by Chubanaro Jamir, BTM (Medziphema block). Altogether 27 farmers participated in the programme. HQPM-1 varieties of hybrid maize, ginger and dhaincha seeds were distributed to the farmers.
