
TENING, NOVEMBER 5 (MExN): ATMA Peren, Tening block conducted two demonstration programs and three capacity building programs at Old Tesen village and Nchangram village on November 1&2. This was informed in a press release issued by Matsungtoshi N Pongener, ATM, ATMA Peren (Tening block).
Resource person Rokozhalie Namdau ATM conducted demonstration on “Disease Management and Cultural Practice of Cole Crops” at Old Tesen village on November 1. Namdau said farmers should practice crop rotations, intercropping and other cultural methods to control pests’ infection and not concentrate much on use of pesticides. He also demonstrated on how to use yellow sticky insect trap at a vegetable field.
A demonstration on “Nursery Bed Preparation of Cole Crops” was also made on November 1 at old Tesen village. Resource person ATM, Kevichamsi Kaurinta gave a detailed hands on demonstration on bed preparation, line sowing, spacing, maintenance and timely irrigation were shared to the farmer. Altogether 15 farmers’ attended the demonstration programme. Seeds were also distributed among the farmers.
Block Technology Manager (BTM) Lily Tungoe conducted two capacity building programs on the topics, “Preparation of Ginger Ale” and “Value addition & preparation of making Ginger Candy” at Nchangram village on November 2.
ATM, Matsungtoshi N Pongener conducted one capacity building program on “Chilli Pickle” for Food Security Group (FSGs) and Self Help Group (SHGs) at Nchangram village on November 2. He explained on the step-by-step procedures to prepare Chilli pickle. The farmers were also taught the importance of proper packaging and labeling their products.
