ATMA Wokha organises skill training for rural youths

Wokha, December 15 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Wokha in collaboration with KVK Wokha organized six-day training programme on mushroom production techniques for the rural youths under Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) from December 7 to 12.

The objective of the training is to impart skill-based training to rural youth on agro-based vocational areas in compliance with National Policy on Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in Agriculture and allied areas to promote employment in rural areas, T Subenthung Yanthan, Deputy Project Director, ATMA Wokha stated in a press release. 

Various topic such as mushroom cultivation for entrepreneurship development, different species of mushroom, oyster mushroom cultivation, pest and disease on mushroom, identification of edible mushroom , housing  etc were thoroughly covered by the Resource person Dr. Mhalo Tungoe Lungalung (ACTO) KVK during the course of the training. Practical demonstration on oyster mushroom cultivation was also carried out with an active participation from the participating youths. A field visit to poultry unit, piggery unit, fish cum duck farming etc were carried out.

Altogether 15 rural youths attended the training programme. The training was conducted under the supervision of the two Deputy Project Director Yanglen Y Jami and T Subenthung Yanthan.

The training was organized in association with State Agricultural Management & Extension Training institute (SAMETI) & National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE).
