In a first time for the state, Miss Universe Nagaland pageant will be hosted in Kohima, with the main event scheduled for June 11. Auditions for the pageant will be held this weekend on May 17 at Westside, Ara Mile, Dimapur, the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland (BASN) announced today.
According to BASN President Mele Pucho, this year marks a shift from previous years, as the state will now conduct a full pageant instead of directly sending representatives selected through auditions to the national level. "This is to ensure that we get good representatives to represent our state," Pucho said.
The winner of the Miss Universe Nagaland pageant will represent the state at the Miss Universe India Pageant, with dates for the national event expected to be announced after all state pageants conclude.
Miss Universe India 2024, Rhea Singha, will serve as the guest judge for the Nagaland edition. Other judges will be announced at a later date.
While online registration for the auditions closed on May 12, the organizers confirmed that on-spot registration will be available on May 17.
The organizers expect between 15 to 30 contestants to participate in the auditions, followed by grooming sessions for the selected candidates.
The pageant is being conducted in partnership with the Tourism Department, TaFMA as the venue partner, and Westside Dimapur. The Miss Universe India pageant is organized under the Glamanand Group, and the state organizers will adhere to the standard criteria and rules prescribed by the group.
