The scheme for augmentation of water supply to the state capital, Kohima, initiated under NER Development programme is expected to be completed within December this year provided the full fund requirement is released to the department.
The project involves pumping of water from Zarü Stream of Dzüü River to reservoir at Kigwema village through two stages of pumping. From this reservoir the water will be conveyed to the state capital by gravity, according to the Annual Administrative Report of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) tabled in the recent assembly session by PHED minister Noke. The implementations of works are in active progress, the report added.
The report also stated that the works on installation of Metering system at Dimapur town is also being taken up at an estimated cost of Rs. 1654.58 lakhs, which is meant to improve equitable distribution of water and for enhancing revenue by way of water tariff from the consumers.
