Mokokchung, November 1 (MExN): As per the Government directives, awareness on iodine deficiency disorders was held in five schools under Mokokchung district, namely Mount Moriah School Ungma, GMS Imrong Ungma, GMS Sabangya, JMS Chungtia, and Don Bosco School Tuli, on October 30 and 31.
Essay, painting and slogan writing competitions were held under the theme, ‘To prevent mental, physical growth retardation, consume only iodised salt’ among the students in the five schools. Lucrative prizes were given to the winners of the competitions, according to a press release.
Talk on awareness of iodine deficiency disorders and demonstration of salt testing for iodine content was given by the respective Medical Officers.
