
Dimapur, May 7 (MExN): Two-day awareness programme for medicine dealers (retailers/wholesalers) of Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts was conducted by the District Drugs Control Authority, Dimapur Zone at the conference hall of CMO, Dimapur on April 25 and 26 last.
During the programme, C Thungchanbeni Lotha, Assistant Drugs Controller, Dimapur Zone gave the introductory note.
She highlighted the importance of adhering to the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules, 1945 and the implications and penalties for violation of this Act and Rules. She encouraged the gatherings to strive for better service to safeguard public health and also sought better cooperation and coordination from medicine dealers in the days ahead.
The awareness on the act and rule was deliberated by Lutovi Phucho, Drugs Control Officer, Dimapur to the medicine wholesalers on April 25 and to medicine retailers of Chümoukedima and Dimapur on April 26.
Altogether 219 participants attended the programme.
The medicine dealers were directed to strictly follow the rules relating to outlook of the pharmacy and maintenance; display of drug licence and other documents; inspection book; requirement of registered pharmacist for retailers (except restricted drug licence); storage conditions of drugs, expired drugs and disposal; proper storage of thermo labile drugs; prohibition od tests/diagnosis and treatment of patients at the pharmacy premises; proper maintenance of purchase bills and cash memo receipts; maintenance of separate register for schedule H1, schedule X and Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances (NRx drugs); keeping of schedule X drugs under lock and key; operation of pharmacy at the specific location; follow up of government notification on restricted drugs; installation of CCTV as per the mandate of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
