Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Conservatory of Music (NCM), an institution affiliated with Nagaland University and the reigning champion of the First Nagaland Choir Games 2025, is set to participate in a major cultural exchange programme in Thailand next month.

The Indian Studies Center at Chiang Mai University has extended an invitation to the NCM for a collaboration titled “Echoes of the Hills: Exploring the Choral Performances of India and Thailand.” The project will be held in Chiang Mai from July 1 to 5, aiming to strengthen artistic and academic connections between the two nations through music.

A flagship event of the programme will be the main choral concert on July 3 at Chiang Mai University, where the NCM Choir and the host Chiang Mai University Choir will share the stage in a celebration of musical excellence and intercultural friendship.

Beyond the main performance, the Nagaland choir will also present concerts and outreach performances at several prominent venues across Chiang Mai, including McGilvary College of Divinity, Payap University, Thammanikhom Church (The Church of Christ in Thailand), and Refuge Fellowship.

The Nagaland Conservatory of Music has emerged as one of Northeast India’s leading institutions for music education and performance. It provides professional training in music and has gained recognition for producing accomplished musicians, educators, and performers. Its choir is acclaimed for its artistic versatility, rich choral tone, and commitment to promoting Nagaland’s musical heritage while engaging with global traditions.

The choir is conducted by Lipokmar Tzudir, one of India’s most respected choral conductors. Under his leadership, the ensemble has performed internationally and represented India on prestigious stages across Europe, including appearances in Belgium, Spain, Ireland, and Norway. His work has significantly advanced choral music in India and created international platforms for cultural exchange through music.

The collaboration seeks to foster meaningful cultural exchange, encourage mutual learning, and create opportunities for engagement between the two communities, the NCM added.
