Shamator, May 15 (MExN): An awareness and sensitisation programme on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 was conducted by the District Administration Hub for Women Empowerment operating under the Mission Shakti and Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Legal Aid Clinic, Shamator at cultural hall, Shamator on May 14.
The event aimed to educate the local community, stakeholders, and youth on the legal, social, and psychological impacts of child marriage and to promote a collective stand against this social evil.
Tsurito Para Legal Volunteer from Legal Aid Clinic, ASHA workers, school authorities, self-help groups, and students from Christian High School and St Xavier Hr. Secondary School participated in the program.
The programme began with a welcome address by District Mission Coordinator, Shamator, Thsantong, while a short speech was delivered by EAC Shamator, Mekato J Aye.
The collaborative approach of involving legal, administrative and grassroots stakeholders ensured a holistic understanding of the issue. Continued efforts and follow-up actions will be vital in ensuring lasting impact.
