Kohima, November 24 (MExN): The District Level stakeholders training under National One Health Program today  conducted a one day awareness programme on Zoonotic disease at Chief Veterinary Office, Kohima) conference hall, Kohima.

It was organized by CVO Office, Kohima under AH & Veterinary Services, Nagaland in collaboration with National One Health Program PCZ, Department of Microbiology, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal under the aegis of NCDC.

50 Para-veterinarian and farmers attended the training.

The program was chaired by Dr. S Amenla Walling, Deputy Director & Project Coordinator, National One Health Programme. Keynote address was delivered by Dr Rokozo Dolie, CVO, Kohima, Dr Elizabeth Yhome, VS, Kohima, Dr N Suokhrie, VAS Botsa and Dr Vephizo, MS, ENT (RIMS) Bethesda Hospital Kohima were the resource persons.

They emphasized that the number of human sickness due to Zoonotic diseases can be prevented and controlled if the disease load is controlled in the animal population. These can also be prevented by following simple but very important hygienic practices and proper SOP guidelines. Topics covered at the awareness programme included; Rabies, Brucellosis, Avian influenza; Toxoplasmosis, Cysticercosis, Japanese Encephalitis, Tuberculosis from animal as well as human health perspective.
