Kohima, May 16 (MExN): The general awareness on Rights and Welfare of Persons with Disabilities was held on May 16 at the Administrative Training Institute, Kimho Kohima with Dr. Hovithal N. Sothu, State Coordinator, DMC, ATI and Ela Mary, Director YARD. Altogether, 17 middle and junior officers from various departments in both the private and government sector participated in the awareness programme.
Dr. Hovithal Sothu covered on Disabilities Act 1995 while Ela Mary spoke on Disability in the field. While speaking on the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and full Participation) Act 1995, Dr. Sothu asserted that government needs to take the first step to let the Act take action in the grassroot level.
