AYO condemns high-handedness of NSCN (K)

The Angami Youth Organisation strongly condemns the high-handedness of the NSCN (K) Mobile V Naga Army under the command of Colonel Koruchu Pochury of Phor village for continually harassing and threatening the workers of one of its member Thepfüsatuo Rio.

Thepfüsatuo Rio, a Class-I Registered Contractor under M/S HEXAD SYNDICATE, is presently undertaking developmental works from Mimi-Khonga-Hakumuthi in Kiphire District under PMGSY Phase-VIII. It is learnt that on the 15th March, 2013, two of his ‘mohorirs’ (site in-charge) were kidnapped long with their vehicle (Maruti Gypsy) by the NSCN (K). After several rounds of negotiations they were released on 18th March, 2013, only after signing an agreement letter under duress.

Again on the 9th April, 2013, the NSCN (K) cadres spent a night in the labourers’ main base and on the 10th morning took away four tipper trucks, one Mahindra pick-up and one excavator (JCB) of the Contractor. Till date all the machineries are said to be in the custody of the NSCN (K) under the command of Colonel Koruchu Pochury. All the labourers have been asked to leave the work site stating that the Contractor was not cooperating with their Commander with regard to taxation.

It has also been brought to the notice of the Angami Youth Organisation that the family members and friends of Thepfüsatuo Rio have made several appeals to the rank and file of the NSCN (K) for the safety of the workers and to release the machineries and pave the way for developmental activities. Despite their assurance to safely release the labourers and machineries, the situation still remains in a stalemate.

The AYO therefore appeals to the authority of the NSCN (K) to take proper measures for the safety of the workers and to release the machineries. The AYO also appeals to all right thinking Nagas condemn such high-handedness in the guise of nationalism.
