Kohima, January 8 (MExN): Condemning the “massacre” of nine Karbis, whose bodies were dug out at Pachaspura in Dimapur, Angami Youth Organization (AYO) has said such an act was “completely insane, devoid of all human elements.” A press release issued by AYO president, Medo Yhokha and its vice president, Kekhrievolie Keyho stated that “justifying the act of such unprovoked murder is not patriotism and will never be tolerated.”
“We will never allow our land and area to be a dumping ground of dead bodies and a battleground for groups/ people that dissect/ destabilize the basic fabric of our society and nationhood; that incite communal tensions within and outside,” it asserted.
AYO appealed for maximum refrain from both the two communities in conflict at Karbi Anglong, Assam. The issue is there and the problem has to be addressed locally at the earliest through People to People Dialogue, it added.
AYO further appealed to the Karbi people living and working in Kohima and in its vicinity not to panic over the incident and to remain calm. Assuring fullest assistance and support at any time to the Karbis in Kohima, AYO said, Angami frontal organizations along with the District Administration and Police are working round the clock monitoring the situation. AYO warned that it will not hesitate to react against people/groups/communities that threaten and harass innocent lives particularly in relation to the situation at Karbi Anglong.
AYO also notified to all the house owners/ proprietors/ contractors and the likes, employing particularly Karbi people as tenants/caretakers/labours etc., to initiate extra efforts in assuring their security and ease till the situation subsides.
