Peren, August 16 (MExN): The Azailong Village Community under Peren district organised a felicitation programme for the HSLC, HSSLC and Degree Examinations passed students with Bamsi Zeliang, SDEO Tening as special guest in GHS Azailong on August 14.
As ‘village community’, the programme was jointly organised by Azailong Students’ Union (ASU), Azailong Village Council (AVC) and GHS Azailong “recognizing the achievements secured by the all successful students of the village in various level of examination and especially the first batch of Class-10 students of GHS Azailong in the HSLC Examination 2021.”
Highlighting the history of Government High School, Azailong, Headmaster, Kaitunchap Newmai said that in 1973, Government of Nagaland first established a GMS in Azailong and after 37 long years, upgraded it to GHS in 2010 “but with no sanctioning of teachers posts commensurate to the high school strength till date.”
“The school somehow started running up to class-9 in 2012 and class-10 in 2020 with very tight arrangement of resources from the community and teachers. The passing out of HSLC Examination by this first Class-10 batch this year is therefore an epoch making occasion in the history of GHS Azailong as well as the village community and an event to be put on record,” he added.
ASU media cell in a press release stated that the special guest expressed hope the school will attain 100% result in HSLC examinations in the near future. He emphasized on building a good foundation for the students even from the grassroots level and urged the parents to be devoted in nurturing their children to bear a good result with quality education. He also hoped that the concern Department will take necessary arrangements to meet the needs of the school such as teachers, infrastructure etc.
ASU President Haigurang delivered the welcome address. The programme was chaired by Puizaiheina while Haisosap, Pastor, Azailong Baptist Church (ZBCC) said the invocation. Students of GHS Azailong presented special number, vote of thanks by Ikolu Nren, Former General Secretary ASU and benediction by Namzeulak, Primary Teacher.
