The G20's Business Conference (B20) which was held in Kohima witnessed investment and business propositions for the State worth over Rs 4,510 Crore.
Among this was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed between the Government of Nagaland and investors for investments in renewable energy to the tune of Rs 1000 crore over the next 3 years.
The B2B/B2G Session also witnessed a substantial business interest with a potential investment size of Rs 1500 crore in bio fuels, informed and official statement.
The private sector also evinced keen business interest with an investment proposition of around Rs 10 crore in the health sector. There are other business propositions to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore in agro and food processing, rubber, MSME, medical tourism, sports and IT sectors which will further be explored and firmed up in due course its said.
Representatives from the business community of Nagaland as well as Government departments had active participation during the Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Government (B2G) negotiations coordinated by CII.
The State Investment Promotion Agency, IDAN in coordination with the business fraternity and line departments shall follow up and provide end to end facilitation to the potential investors.
According to official sources, the State Government will continue to make concerted efforts with active support of Ministry of DoNER, DPIIT and Invest India, and in tandem with Industrial associations/relevant stakeholders for ushering appropriate policies to convert these expressed business interests into projects on the ground.
With the NE Global Investment Summit, organized by DoNER Ministry and DPIIT fast approaching, the State has submitted its policy recommendations for the new NEIDS, which would help facilitate in fast forwarding the process of grounding business propositions and effectively improving the business climate of the state.
Lot of investments will be coming: Bagla
Meanwhile, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) North East Council Chairman, Pradeep Bagla termed the the 4th B20 in Kohima as the “greatest success”. Other three B20 Conference took place earlier in Manipur, Mizoram and Sikkim,
Expressing happiness over the success, he said, “Things cannot happen in one day but there is a moment and lot of investment will be coming.”
Talking to The Morung Express on the sideline of visiting Kohima World War II Cemetery, he said that 60 delegates from 27 countries were touched by the rich culture of Nagaland, which were showcased during the meet.
“The rich agricultural produces, textiles have been showcased,” he said, adding: “I believe it is a start. There is a long way to go. The potential of Nagaland is immense.”
Stating that India is the fastest growing economy in the world, he said that Government of India is completely ensure that they are going to spend money over here (Nagaland).
Referring to the Union minister of State for External Affairs, Dr Rajkumar Rajan Singh that all the border are going to be connected by road, Bagla said : “That is what we need to unlock the potential of northeast, which is the gateway to South East Asia, ASEAN countries.”
Embassy of Japan to come to Nagaland soon
Indian Association of Japan (IAJ) president Dr Sanjay Mehrotra also informed that the Japan delegation discussed with Nagaland’s Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio during the meet in Kohima, and he was very positive and keen for development of state.
Talking to media persons while visiting Kohima World War II Cemetery, Dr Mehrotra said that Rio is going to send a high profile delegation to Tokyo in the coming month and Embassy of Japan is also coming to Nagaland soon.
“We are here for development of Nagaland, especially infrastructure development, job creations, water problem,” he said.
He continued that the team wanted to make an investment and technology transfer in Nagaland in different sectors, like fresh drinking water solution, garbage management and a monorail from Dimapur to Kohima which will help in crowd management.
Further, Dr Mehrotra said that the team is also interested in industrialization to ensure better development of Nagaland.
Winding up the three day B2O in Kohima today, the delegates visited Kohima World War II Cemetery before their departure to Dimapur.
