Baby, we need a break, says Rod Stewart the tired out father

He admitted that being an older father has left him ‘bloody exhausted’. So it may explain Rod Stewart’s decision to jet off on holiday less than a month after the birth of his eighth child.
The 66-year-old singer arrived at Heathrow airport yesterday joined by his 39-year-old wife Penny Lancaster, their six-year-old son, Alistair and new baby boy Aiden, as the family prepared to fly to Miami for some much needed rest.
The veteran rocker is opening his Heart And Soul tour on March 20 at Fort Lauderdale in Florida and is also preparing to perform London’s Hyde Park this summer. However, he revealed that looking after a new-born baby has worn him out in recent weeks. He said: ‘At my age, a new baby is bloody exhausting, it doesn’t stop, but I’m very lucky and proud to have had this happen in my life. Knackered or not, Aiden is a beautiful little boy.’
The star became a father for the eighth time on February 16 when Aiden arrived. It is he and Miss Lancaster’s second child together. The couple told how they went through three rounds of IVF before she finally became pregnant again. The gruelling fertility treatment had sent them on an ‘emotional rollercoaster’, they said.
Miss Lancaster revealed that she was expecting last August, saying: ‘I couldn’t believe it. I burst into tears. I called Rod when I was still sobbing.’ ‘Rod said, “I’m in the middle of a restaurant in Russia, crying.” I kept pinching myself.’
The couple have been together for more than ten years. They were married in 2007 in Italy just outside Portofino, making Miss Lancaster Stewart’s third wife.
Aside from Alastair, new-born Aiden joins Kimberley, 31, and Sean, 30, from the singer’s first marriage to Alana Stewart. Stewart went on to have another daughter, Ruby, 23, with girlfriend Kelly Emberg. He then had Renee, 18, and son Liam, 16, with former wife, model Rachel Hunter. He also has daughter Sarah Streeter, 46, who he fathered early in his career with art student Susannah Boffey and who was raised by adoptive parents.
