Phek, August 1 (MExN): Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) cleared road blocks caused due to landslides at Lephori, Ziphu and Phek town, Phek district on July 31 and August 1.

According to HQ IGAR (N) press release, bad weather and continuous rains had triggered various landslides in Lephori, Ziphu and Phek town blocking the road axes of Jessami - Akhen, Akhegwo - Avanghku and Main road connecting district HQs with NH-29.

Notably Jessami - Akhen and Akhegwo - Avanghku axes act as lifeline for all the IMB villages and all the administrative requirements get fulfilled through these axes. Phek Battalion cleared both the axes by employing its JCB and mostly by manual efforts. Road connecting the District HQs with NH-29 was also cleared by employing the Battalion JCB.

“Villagers and District administration were very thankful for this kind act as road clearance ensured that the lives in the IMB villages as well as functioning of district HQs don't come to a standstill,” the release stated.
