Advisor Zhaleo Rio cuts the ribbon during the inaugural of bailey bridge over Chathe River at Khughovi village on June 20.

Khughovi, June 20 (MExN): The bailey bridge over Chathe River at Khughovi village was inaugurated by Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), Advisor, Urban Development & Municipal Affairs Department, Nagaland on June 20.
Giving a brief account of the bridge, Er Z Inahoto Sema, EE, PWD (R&B) Dimapur, stated that the bridge was constructed through “additional funds” under the initiative of Advisor Zhaleo Rio. He highlighted that the department constructed it with meagre resources where they had to dismantle the bridge from the old site and rebuilt it at the present location.
In his inaugural speech, Zhaleo Rio noted that the department had constructed it in a record time of about four months although technical lapses had delayed the construction to begin last year. “The secondhand brand new bridge must be utilised and managed properly by the people,” he advised, and added that visible signage, etc. should be installed to bar heavy vehicles while long convoys of cars too should be avoided on the 150 m bridge.
Replying to a request from H Khekiye Yeptho, President, Kuhuboto Ghakhu Public Organisation disclosed that he is aware of the need to upgrade SDO Kuhuboto to ADC level and that the matter is under process.
He remarked that the people should submit justified representation to the concerned authority as they want to establish Kuhuboto Town Council. Citing that Chümoukedima, Niuland and Dimapur are of great concern to him, Rio claimed that “many development works are ongoing, some are yet to begin while others are in the pipeline.”
He urged the people to “develop oneness because unity brings development whereas ‘ism’ divides and destroy the society.”
Others who spoke during the function included Hojei Swu, Khughovi Village and Khekiye Yeptho, President, KGPO, including area leaders.
“The inaugural of this bailey bridge is historic not only for Khughovi village but for all others in Kuhuboto sub-division and Niuland district because it has provided direct connection with Dimapur,” stated one leader while another counted various ongoing projects in the area as well as the construction of blacktopped road under PMGSY in Kuhuboto subdivision as a dream come true through the constituency MLA and Advisor.
A press release issued by Thejangukho Yalietsu, Media Secretary, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II AC stated that the programme was chaired by Er Muzivoyi Ringa, SDO, PWD (R&B), Dimapur, while dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev G Iviho Chishi, Pastor, KBC.
