BAN inducts new team for 2021-24 tenure

Dimapur, August 1 (MExN): The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) inducted a new team of office bearers and executive members for the 2021-24 tenure during its annual general meeting in Dimapur on July 31.

Seasoned businessman and Managing Director of Symbios Creations Pvt. Ltd. Mongkum Jamir was unanimously selected as the new BAN president, according to a press release from the association on Sunday. Other office bearers include Proprietor of Pristine Foods Er Puteu Phesao as Vice President, CEO of Pinnacle Skills Dr Yan Murry as General Secretary and Proprietor of Urban Jungle Major (Retd) Vikuto Asumi as Joint Secretary.

Speaking at the meeting, outgoing president Vitho Zao thanked his team for their support. Though hampered by the pandemic, he said that BAN had taken up many initiatives especially helping local farmers and fighting against illegal taxation, the release stated.

Convener of the selection committee Dr Aotoshi said that BAN should help develop a business friendly entrepreneurial ecosystem for Nagas and that the new team has been selected keeping that in mind. To develop a conducive business environment; the onus is on the sons and daughters of the soil, he added.

As per the release, the new president Mongkum Jamir stated that BAN has to work transparently and with honesty.

Being a member of BAN should not be for taking credit but the main motive should be to work on reforms based on the values on which the association stands, he said. Jamir also thanked the outgoing president and his team for the various initiatives and for setting high standards.

Dr Lanusangla Tzudir presented the outgoing General Secretary’s report while Pastor Alemsunep of World Impact Community Church, Dimapur pronounced the dedicatory prayer for the new team, the press release stated. 

According to the release, BAN started in the year 2013 with an aim to develop the entrepreneurial spirit of the Naga people. “The organization aspires to inculcate the spirit of inter-dependence amongst the people which is achievable through fostering of shared prosperity between the members,” it said, while adding that BAN works towards enabling economic control and help preserve the socio-economic fabric and identity of Nagas.

One of the objectives to BAN is to help the government formulate and implement economic policies and also promote local farmers and products. BAN plans to promote innovation and start-ups and also organize seminars and events to promote and develop Naga enterprises, it added.
