Morung Express News Dimapur | February 4 The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) further scaled down the restrictions enforced with regard to the ongoing bandh in Dimapur. The JCC on February 4 informed that all banking institutions will be allowed to open from February 6, while adding that sanitation workers of the Dimapur Municipal Council should complete garbage removal before 9:00 am daily. While asserting that the boycotting of Nagaland state government offices, officials and vehicles will continue, the JCC requested all business establishments in town to put up black flags beginning Sunday as a mark of protest against the state government and its actions. It further demanded that the government should issue official notification with regard to the nullifying of the ULB polls. In line with the demand for the suspension of the former Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, it also demanded that the Superintendent of Police, Longleng should also be suspended. While warning that JCC would strengthen the agitation if the state government does not step down, JCC convenor, Supu Jamir stated that the action of the “present day government” is not in consonance with the concept of democracy and as a consequence the Chief Minister is liable to step down on moral grounds. “TR Zeliang is not the Chief Minister of his MLAs. He is the Chief Minister of the people,” said Supu commenting on the CM announcing he has the support of 42 MLAs. Meanwhile, the Dimapur Naga Youth Front informed that NST bus service will henceforth be allowed to ply. Diphupar Diphupar continued with the bandh today with most shops inside the village jurisdiction remaining shut. While most of the barriers put up along NH 29 were cleared, a few including the remnants of a burnt vehicle continued to remain near the Diphupar village gate. Traffic, except for state government vehicles, along the highway was unaffected. There were no reports of any untoward incident.
