Bandhan Bank officially opened its second branch for Dimapur at Purana Bazaar, near Traffic police point on May 30.
The office was inaugurated by Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Kevithuto Sophie who was invited as the chief guest.
Interacting with its new branch head, Vesalu Tunyi, she stated that the Purana Bazaar branch will be staffed by eight employees, including three sales agents and four in operations. “We opened this second branch to cater to the needs of our customers from East Dimapur and also Chümoukedima,” she said. In addition, the bank has been keen to expand their operations in Dimapur and the state in general, Tunyi mentioned.
Across Nagaland, this was the third branch to be opened with one already existing at Clock Tower, Dimapur and the other located opposite to Oking Hospital, Kohima.
She also revealed that the next branch will be opened in Chümoukedima taking into consideration the volume of the customer base in the newly created district. At present, Bandhan bank has over 4000 registered customers.
“From 2015 to today we have 1448 branches in the country and our target is to open another 550 branches this financial year,” she noted.
Dimapur CP, Kevithuto Sophie meanwhile urged the people to avail the facilities and services which the bank provides for them. From his personal observation, he mentioned that in the past, people had a habit of failing to repay back subsidies or loans received from banks which underscored the reason why Nagas fail in business ventures. As such, it was crucial that any individual availing loans, should repay back on time, he stressed.
With the opening of more banks and financial institutions in the state, he further exhorted the youths to venture into professions not related to the government sector.
