Bank employees in Nagaland will also be joining the 48-hour all-India bank strike from May 30 under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).

State Bank of India Staff Association (SBISA) North East circle Vice President, A Lolly Moses informed all the staff and officers to report to SBI Kohima branch on May 30 at 10:00 AM for strike demonstration. The strike is against the pending wage revision of bank officers and employees.

The strike has been called to oppose IBA’s delay in resolving a charter of demands, government’s casual approach to wage revision for bank employees and officers, IBA’s meager offer of 2% hike in wage bill towards wage increase and partial mandate given by some of the banks only upto scale III officers.

The bank employees and officers are demanding expeditious and early wage revision settlement, adequate increase in salary and improvement in other service conditions and wage revision settlement to include all officers upto scale VII.

Over 10 lakh bankers in the government and private sectors are gearing up for the two-day strike starting May 30 with the IBA's failure to improve on the 2% wage hike as the key issue of discontent.
