‘Banking culture yet to take firm root among Nagas’

Mon, July 1 (MExN): A new SBI Branch has been formally inaugurated at the Aboi ADC Hq. by Minister for School Education & SCERT Nagaland, Nyeiwang Konyak. Calling upon the people of Aboi to avail the opportunity of banking facilities extended by the SBI, the Minister in his inaugural speech, said that the banking culture was yet to take firm root among the Nagas. He further asked the bankers to seriously explore the banking culture and habits of the Nagas to bring faster and sustainable development in the state.

“In order to inculcate banking culture among the Nagas, the bank can extend loans for various sectors and encourage the village communities to avail bank loans for development of the villagers at par with other district,” he added. The Minister also expressed hope that banking services will benefit the government employees in drawing their salary, GPF, pension, etc. at the SBI branch in Aboi.

Advisor to DUDA and Village Guard, E E Pangtiang Konyak, exhorted the gathering to extend full cooperation to the SBI Aboi branch and to Minister Nyeiwang Konyak for more development in the future. Khoiwang Wangsha, president of KU, Shah-ang, vice chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Aboi town, David Kire, CM of SBI Guwahati, S C Sen, AGM of SBI, and the president of SBI Staff Association also spoke at the function. Informing this in a press release, Ronshong, I/A of DPRO Mon, added that a plantation in the town was also organised by the SBI.
