Baudi happy at Intangki issue resolution

Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Baudi of Nagaland is happy that the Nagaland government undertook “persistent efforts” to settle the land dispute over Intangki National Park. The apex Zeliangrong organization also expressed happiness that the settlers in the reserved area have assured to move out from the area.

The Zeliangrong Baudi appreciates the initiatives and tireless efforts of DAN (Democratic Alliance of Nagaland) government in “preserving and protecting Ntangki National Park,” the organization said in a press release received here today. Consecutive state governments had failed to address the rampant encroachment and destruction of the national park, the organization said.

“Now following the latest development, Inavi village has given its assurance to the Supreme Court that they would not re-enter Ntangki National Park and in view of their statement, the state of Nagaland shall not enforce the order of the court for recovery of the compensation from the petitioners of Rs. 5 lakhs per hectare per month to the State of Nagaland passed earlier last year by the Gauhati High Court,” the Zeliangrong organization said.

The assurance of Inavi village before the Supreme Court is “praise-worthy” and the Zeliangrong Baudi “sends its heartfelt greetings to the villagers for their wise, matured and timely decision.” The press release was appended by the ‘Baudi’s’ general secretary Azeu Namcyn Hau.
