DIMAPUR, MARCH 21 (MExN): Bosco College of Teacher Education observed its 22nd Foundation Day on March 21 with a series of cultural events at the college’s multipurpose hall.

The event started with the formal entry of the teaching and non-teaching faculty, followed by a Bible reading from Psalms 37:5-6. The invocation prayer was led by Khiutalak. The morning included a choir performance by students, who sang “Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee,” before a group photo session with faculty and students.

In his welcome address, College Counsellor Fr M.P Thomas reflected on the institution’s progress over the years. He highlighted the importance of appreciating different cultures while preserving one’s heritage in the face of westernization. Fr. Thomas encouraged the audience to embrace positive cultural elements and reject negative ones.

Students performed a variety of dramatic pieces during the celebration. The second-semester students of Section A presented an excerpt from The Merchant of Venice, which explored themes of justice, mercy, prejudice, and wisdom. Section B students performed scenes from Macbeth, focusing on ambition, fate, guilt, and the supernatural, followed by a Naga folktale, Momola and the River Spirit, from the Chang tribe.

A slideshow presentation highlighted the college’s 22-year history and its development since its founding. Vekhotolu Lohe acted as the Master of Ceremonies.

Principal Dr Fr. Jose Joseph, in his concluding remarks, thanked the students for their involvement in the celebrations and highlighted the college’s role in producing dedicated teachers for Nagaland and beyond.
