DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 14 (MExN): The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer Team conducted the first Accreditation Cycle of Bosco College of Teacher Education, Dimapur on February 13 &14.
The NAAC Peer Team was led by Dr Muthaiah Narayanasamy, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Disability Management and Special Education at Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, as Chairperson. The team also included Dr Ram Pal Vadhera, Former Vice Chancellor of ICFAI University Mizoram and Former Pro Vice Chancellor of Mizoram Central University, as Member Coordinator, and Dr Kishor Rewatkar, Principal of Vidya Vikas Arts, Commerce and Science College in Samudrapur, Maharashtra, as the esteemed Member.
According to a press release, the purpose of the NAAC visit is to evaluate a college's quality assurance mechanisms across various domains, including teaching, learning, research, student support, governance, and infrastructure. The accreditation process aims to ensure that institutions meet national standards and foster continuous growth and improvement.

The visit began with a detailed presentation by the Principal, FrDr Jose Joseph, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Coordinator, Dr M Poorani, who provided an overview of the college’s history, achievements, and future aspirations. The team engaged in discussions on the college’s quality assurance practices, including its academic and administrative processes.
The Peer Team then took part in a structured campus tour, visiting various academic departments and key facilities such as classrooms, the infirmary, the multipurpose hall, staff rooms, and student common areas. The tour offered the team an opportunity to assess the institution's physical infrastructure and learning environments.
Following the campus tour, a series of interaction sessions were conducted with faculty and staff to evaluate governance structures, faculty development programs, and student engagement. The team also met with students, parents, and alumni to gather insights on the overall student experience, extracurricular activities, and the effectiveness of placement services.
On the second day, the Peer Team assessed the practice teaching schools where students undertake their practical training. The team visited various schools, interacting with school management to better understand the teaching-learning environment. In the afternoon, a final review session was held with Fr Dr Jose Joseph, Principal, to validate the team's findings and discuss recommendations for improvement.
The visit ended with a formal exit meeting, where the Peer Team shared their observations, highlighted the institution’s strengths, and provided constructive feedback. The final report was handed over to the Principal, marking the conclusion of the accreditation process.
The NAAC Peer Team commended Bosco College of Teacher Education for its strong commitment to quality teacher education, effective pedagogy, and modern infrastructure. The institution was praised for its dedicated faculty, engaged student body, and robust alumni network. The team also offered valuable suggestions for enhancing research initiatives and integrating more digital learning tools into the curriculum.
