Be mature and be open to healthy criticism, NPF told

Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): Reminding the NPF party that in any democratic system both ruling governments and opposition parties have their own constructive roles to play, the Peren DCC advised the ruling party to take criticisms with a mature attitude because “a country or a state becomes strong when it has efficient and responsible government whose performance is constantly being watched and constructive criticism is given by the opposition.”

Maintaining that a wise government takes criticism positively as advice and strength, contrary to a foolish government that views it otherwise and becomes acrimonious and intolerant, the Peren DCC asserted that the NPF has of late become intolerant and “allergic” to criticisms

“In recent times, the public have been observing to what degree the NPF has become intolerant and allergic to any sort of criticism. They have become almost untouchables since the time when NPCC President Hokheto issued statement which was by and large, suggestions to the government to set up an independent body to involve in expediting Naga Peace Process; to enforce IRB to stop factional clashes and to bring development in other backward districts” Heliang Zeliang Peren DCC president stated.

However, this statement instead of being taken as advice with maturity, was branded as unacceptable criticism by the NPF, the DCC said and maintained that since then, the NPF resorted to personal attack “rampantly” on NPCC President Hokheto through the media who was only performing his duty as opposition leader.

“Their statements were absurd and impolite that went berserk surpassing the limit of etiquette. We would rather appreciate if NPF knows how to control and discipline their children when elders are talking. It is beyond comprehension, that why NPF felt the need to dig out from the grave their alleged failures of past Congress government and take the role of opposition when they should be giving their maximum attention to the welfare of the state as ruling DAN Government” it was stated.

“The DAN Government is fortunate to implement and inaugurate the projects initiated by the then Congress Government like creation of three new Districts, Sainik School at Punglwa, IRB headquarter at Saizang, construction of Ghaspani, Jalukie, Peren-Tenning Road including Athibung road and proposed International Airport at Heningkunglwal Rezaikie (Ruziephe) plain area” the DCC president stated adding that these are the plans and proposed projects of Congress leaders under the leadership of the then Chief Minister SC Jamir and Ex-Cabinet   Minister Neiba Ndang.

“So we are at least happy that they, under the leadership of our Congress Ex-members,   are harvesting our toils” the DCC stated adding that “Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio himself is also the living witness to this claim. “I suggest that the Peren N.P.F. should rather insist their leaders on this issue than engrossing in writing scrolls against the Congress Leaders, forgetting important issues which are first required by our community” he stated.
