Bead workshop organised by the School of Culture, Watsu Mungdang got underway at Aor Kilem conference hall, Mokokchung with Chubalemla, Proprietor of Berem Jewelry as the resource person.

On day one of the workshop, the resource person taught the participants how to make earrings. She started with the basics of making earrings. She stated that even though there are many videos and resources available online on how to make jewelries, they do not teach the basics like what kind of metal and beads or other materials to use.

Chubalemla also informed that jewelry making is gaining importance since fusion jewelry is making a mark in the market. She said that Naga fusion jewelry is unique and the Naga touch in the jewelries can only be made by Nagas. Hence, she encouraged the participants to learn the art of jewelry making not just for one’s own wear but also to make money out of it.

The bead workshop will conclude on August 2. On day two, the participants will be taught how to make necklaces.
