Dimapur, May 31 (MExN): Centre for Environment Education (CEE) has locally tied up with Care- Centre for Community Environment and Rural Poor (C-Cerp) in Dimapur to observe the World Environment Day 2018 in Nagaland. The theme for this year is Beat Plastic Pollution drawing attention to the alarming situation on land and in the ocean of plastic pollution. CEE and CCERP have planned two days activities on June 1 and 2 to engage school children, youth and community people to spread awareness about plastic pollution and its prevention, informed a press release from C-Cerp and CEE.
In both the days, people will engage in hands on activities to create a difference to manage plastic creatively. They will be made aware about the ways of 3R i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle of plastic.
The release highlighted that the unprecedented use of plastic combined with unsustainable lifestyles, dependent on disposable plastic products, is playing havoc on the planet. The plastic revolution has led to the replacement of several traditional and sustainable practices, it added.
CEE has collaborated with United Nation Environment Programme (UNEP), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and Government of India to celebrate the World Environment Day, June 5, this year.
