PUNGRO, OCTOBER 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission in collaboration with the Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema conducted one day awareness programme for Pungro block under Kiphire district at Pungro village council hall with 50 beekeepers of the area on October 29.
In his key note address, Commissioner Secretary to the Governor and team leader, NBHM, T Mhabemo Yanthan, IAS, urged the beekeepers of Pungro to introspect the agriculture practices of the present days and evaluate whether it is really benefiting them in sustaining their family.
He encouraged the gathering to rededicate and take this kind of government programme seriously to bring additional income. Later in the technical session, team member and in charge of Kiphire district Bendangmoa Yim, presented the different aspects of modern beekeeping and its benefits, best practice and management techniques, including quality control of honey and its product.
Practical session on bee management was assisted by Kiusangthong , a progressive beekeeper from New Vongti village where routine management of bee colony, identification of different caste of bees, and tools and equipment were explained in detail.
